Customer Service

Tammy spent almost 2 hours on hold with AT&T today. They cancelled our installation. This was their 2nd attempt at getting someone over to our new place. They couldn’t tell us why the installation was cancelled. After an hour on hold, we found out that the installation was cancelled after Tammy called to see why the technician was over an hour late.

After spending hours on hold with AT&T with no resolution, Tammy and I had given up. Then her phone rang. We both hoped it was AT&T saying they were sorry and the problem was fixed and someone would be out to our place soon. The following conversation ensued:

AT&T Representative: “Thank you for calling AT&T, how can I help you?”
Tammy: “I don’t know, you called me!”
AT&T Representative: “Oh… hold please.”

After 20 minutes on hold, they told us they figured out the problem and the earliest they could get a technician out to our place is 2 weeks from today. I wish I was joking.

Day 1

Long flight to London. Left Austin Monday afternoon at 4:00 and arrived in London at 11:00 am (local time). Tammy and I got about an hour of sleep over the last 36 hours. At one point I thought Tammy was going to cry from being so tired.

We are tying one on before we head to bed (the bar is the only place with free WiFi) at 8:00 pm. Hopefully we will have recovered from the trip here by the morning so we can actually enjoy this amazing city. So far my impression is that the city feels smaller than NYC, but it is more expansive. Cheers and talk to you soon.

Facebook

Maybe the above-referenced social media platform has gotten out of control for some users. An old high school classmate of mine has made these postings today.

“On my way to the hospital. The baby is coming.”
and
“I am a 10!”

I don’t know about you but I think I would be a little focused on having my baby. I wouldn’t be very concerned about updating my Facebook profile to reflect what is going on in my life. It could wait.

Oh, and I don’t think I needed to know how dilated my “friend” is. I understand it is an exciting time but maybe the father can be in charge of Facebook postings, emails, and phone calls.

Work, Work, and More Work

It looks like we will have over 40 scheduled events of outreach in the next 25 days. That means I will not sleep very much and I will probably have to visit some other regions of this fine state. You never realize how big Texas is until you drive to El Paso. Geological formations change (a couple times) along the drive out West. I am sure Dad can attest to the vastness of Texas after making the Dallas to South Padre drive when we were kids.
